Week 1 vs Pacific FC
3/2/24

Some questions were answered on Saturday as the 2024 Spring soccer season kicked off for the 2013 Nemesis Girls White Team on their home turf at Fort Vancouver High School.

On a frigid late winter day all 11 players showed up for the event, including new additions Mira and Morgan. After some significant off-season roster changes and change in divisions, anticipation was high to see what the team looked like. The perfect test came as we matched up against city rival Pacific FC, who featured a former Nemesis White player in Bertie.

Pacific came out the gates the more aggressive team, being dangerous coming straight down middle. Not surprising as the Nemesis group took some time to get organized defensively. Marley held down the back as Addie got comfortable in her new marking back position, making some nice plays with good positioning and getting the ball wide to Sasha and her other wingers. Nalani made some impressive open field runs up front, and Verity was active in the middle up front as well. As the first half came to a close, the momentum had shifted to favor Nemesis.

The second half picked up right where the first half left off, with Nemesis on the attack. Sasha was dangerous on right side, as well as Gracy, shifting the attack from head on to the wing. No goals scored for either team in the affair as it ended 0-0. Player of the game: Addie showed immense improvement since last season.
